Violence in Colombia continues: social leader assassinated

Bogota, Dec 25 (Prensa Latina) Another act of violence is shocking Colombia today; social leader Lucy Villarreal was assassinated in the Llorente Commuity, Tumaco municipality (southwest).

The Social Process of Warranties for the work of human rights champions denounced the crime and specified that Villarreal worked for the promotion of culture in her territory and the defense of human rights.

The leader was assassinated after finishing a workshop with children, reported the local Contagio Radio.

This assassination occured after over a month of anti-government protests, against violence and for peace in the country.

Every month, week, and practically every day of this year, violence has been constant in the Colombian reality.

Threats, attacks, kidnappings, and murders have been continuous, whose common victims have been members of indigenous communities, social leaders, and former guerrilla fighters.
