Trump says State of the Union is really great

Washington, February 5 (RHC)-- From immigration policies to the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, U.S. President Donald Trump's main talking points on international policy during his third annual presidential report, known as "The State of the Union," were part of his speech Tuesday night on Capitol Hill.  Observers said that the annual speech was nothing more than a narcissistic speech to kick off his reelection campaign.

Donald Trump delivered his State of the Union address in front of Vice President Mike Pence and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, claiming that over the past three years he has helped bring about the "great American comeback."  In addition, he pledged to protect Social Security and warned about the Democratic Party's policy proposals.

During his speach, he praised his recent achievements including the ratification of the U.S.-Canada-Mexico Treaty and new agreements with China.  Furthermore, included his 'warrior' achievements, such as the assassination of Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani, and the dramatic reduction in the flow of migration.

The event was attended by self-proclaimed "Venezuelan president," Juan Guaidó, whom Trump introduced as "the true and legitimate president of Venezuela.”  In front of the special guest, Donald Trump promised to "crush Maduro's tyranny," and claimed that "all Americans are united with the Venezuelan people in their just struggle for freedom.

In addition, he highlighted during his annual message that his administration "supports the hopes of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela" in their struggle to restore “democracy in their countries.”

Trump said the U.S. is working to end its military actions in the Middle East and withdraw its troops from the region, despite the recent influx of violence that was caused by his administration.

The White House tenant noted that in Afghanistan the determination and courage of the U.S. military "has enabled great progress" in the peace process. However, he stressed that it is not the role of the U.S. "to serve other nations as a law enforcement agency," so he intends to withdraw U.S. forces from that country.

"We are working to finally end America's longest war and bring our troops home," he said on the eve of his impeachment acquittal in the Senate.

Political observers said that, once again, Trump's claims appeared to be contradictory, as the Taliban has retaken large parts of Afghanistan and forced the U.S. to negotiate with them.

In the end, as Trump was leaving, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the most powerful Democrat in government, tore up her copy of the presidential speech on the podium in front of the television cameras. When asked why shortly thereafter, she replied: "It was the most polite thing I could do.“
