The US channel, citing a Security Council diplomat, said the new resolution will be presented as "the toughest so far" against Pyongyang and the document will be voted on "in a couple of days," after other nations have an opportunity to discuss the wording.

Apart from the information revealed by CNN, the White House said today that National Security Adviser Susan Rice and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, 'agreed' on the importance of a 'united and strong' international response to North Korea's 'provocations'.

"Including through a UN Security Council resolution that goes beyond previous resolutions" the US government said in a statement.

The two officials also agreed that they will 'not accept' North Korea as a 'nuclear weapons state'.

On Tuesday, Secretary of State, John Kerry, and Wang Yi met in Washington for the third time this month and made progress in the draft resolution, which would include sanctions on North Korea for its recent nuclear test and missiles launches.
