Only 10 percent of people in the United States have a great deal of confidence in the country's overall political system, according to a national poll conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

The new report discovered that only 13 percent of Americans say they believe the two-party political system in the U.S. works fairly smoothly, while 38 percent say it's seriously broken. An additional 49 percent believe the system has real problems.

Meanwhile, the study also found that a whopping seventy percent of U.S. citizens say they feel frustrated about this year's presidential election along with overwhelming discontent towards the country’s superdelegate system.

More than 30 years after superdelegates were introduced to the Democratic Party's nominating process, but support from these delegates — party elites, including former governors and presidents — is not based on voting.

Hillary Clinton has won 1,768 pledged delegates through the primary and caucus process, 274 more than Sanders. However, because she is supported by 525 superdelegates, Clinton needs only 90 more delegates to clinch the nomination, while Sanders, who is only backed by 39 superdelegates, needs 847.

The AP-NORC poll entailed interviews that were conducted between May 12 and 15, 2016, with adults age 18 and over representing the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Meanwhile, a separate poll carried out last month by Reuters and Ipsos found that more than half of U.S. voters believe that the system United States political parties use to pick their candidates for the White House is "rigged" and more than two-thirds want to see the process changed.
